Women Defying Gravity concert in NY: A case of collab among nonprofits, youth, govt.

By Marivir R. Montebon

New York City - This is how collaboration (among nonprofit organizations and government offices) looks like.

In celebration of Women’s Month 2025, the Women’s Federation for World Peace International, the Women’s Immigration and Communications Cafe, and Women & Media, produced a tribute-to-women concert titled 'Women Defying Gravity' on March 1 at the Philippine Center on 556 5th Ave, NYC.

The producers Merly Barlaan and Marivir Montebon with performers balladeer Thomas John Castanares and Hyowon Barlaan, son of Merly.

Headlined by balladeer Thomas John Castanares and classical pianist Hyowon Barlaan, women leaders and the international community in New York were entertained by the repertoire of these young artists for over an hour.

The proceeds of the concert were dedicated to the education program of the Global Women Peace Ambassadors Academy (GWAPA) and the Young Filipino Peace Ambassadors. #
