Filipino American Press Club of New York elects Visaya and Rosales as pres and VP for 2024 & 2025

New York - The Filipino American Press Club Of NY (FAPCNY) elected Momar G. Visaya, editor of Asian Journal, as president and Lindy Rosales vice president for 2024 and 2025 on Sunday, January 28, 2024. Freelance writer Marilyn Abalos was reelected as treasurer.

The new Board members are Felix Manuel, Troi Santos, Cesar YetBo LoveRita who has also been appointed Secretary, Myrna De Guia-Gutierrez and Rolan Gutierrez.

Visaya succeeds Don Tagala, multimedia multi-awarded journalist of ABS-CBN, who served for two terms 2020 & 2021 at the height of the pandemic and 2022 & 2023. Visaya brings to the table a wealth of journalistic experience and integrity of over 30 years in print and digital media.

FAPCNY was formed on September 1, 2011 with Butch Gata as founding president and Monette Rivera of ABS-CBN as vice president. It is a non-partisan and non-political organization which has recently acquired a 501 C3 status.

In 2013, Monette Rivera became its president and Momar Visaya as vice president. In 2017 and 2018, Richard Rillera of Philippine Daily Mirror was elected president with Cristina DC Pastor of The FilAm as vice president.

Marivir Montebon of OSM! Online Magazine was elected president for 2019 and 2020 and Cristina DC Pastor as vice president.

For this election year 2024, Philippine local journalists of the press club are rolling their sleeves for in-depth and incisive reporting in the midst of the constant challenge of misinformation.#
